I love giving myself challenges and being that June is in the middle of the year, I’m going to write everyday this month about something that I’m grateful for.
Here it goes:
June 01, 2016
Thank you to all our servicemen- and women.
June 02, 2016
Thank you, Rachael Tamayo, for being a guest on my blog and a GREAT BIG THANK YOU for serving the public.
June 03, 2016
Thank you, thank you, thank you Junior Achievement for inviting me to the special event. I love to teach and volunteer!
June 04, 2016
I had an amazing dinner with family. I’m grateful for having a family.
June 05, 2016
I’m very grateful for a day of rest. I dusted and did a load of wash before I sat down to read and then took an afternoon nap.
June 06, 2016
One of my friends at work was able to retire early (lucky stiff). She always kept a sign on her desk that read: When you’re not feeling gratitude for the job you have, imagine what it’s like not being employed.”
I’m grateful for being employed.
June 07, 2016
I’m grateful for all the friends I have.
June 08, 2016
I can honestly say that today really and truly sucked: my co-workers and I will be sitting in a new area and I got the distinct impression that two of my co-workers would rather not sit near me (so much for work friends) but with their friends. To add to the wonderful day, I received the official phone call from the recruiter telling me that someone else was offered the job that I interviewed for.
So here goes looking for the silver lining: I’m grateful that the universe will find me a great job that is close to home, with fantastic salary and benefits; with wonderful co-workers and a manager who believes in allowing the employees to shine.

I’m grateful for all the rain my state has received; but, I still think this weather is caused by climate change.
June 10, 2016
I’m grateful that my older model car is now repaired and running well. The universe has a warped sense of humor: I just paid off the dental debacle and I had to pay $502.96 for car repairs earlier today. Oh sigh, two steps forward, two steps back.
June 11, 2016
I love my local farmers’ market and do my best to visit each Saturday in the summer. Thank you, thank you, and thank you for all the farmers. Farming is back-breaking work. If you can afford it, please try to belong to a CSA.
June 12, 2016
I’m grateful for volunteering. I never know when an exciting opportunity comes my way. What goes around, comes around (the good and the bad).
June 13, 2016
To all the victims, their families, and friends of yesterday’s terrorist attack in Orlando, FL; know this: I still believe in the dignity and inherent worth of all – and for that I’m grateful.
June 14, 2016
Thank you, thank you, thank you for my friend and co-worker who recommended me to a hiring manager within the company.
June 15, 2016
I’m grateful that the universe is teaching me to never take the luxury of A/C for granted. My building’s compressor blew today (the hottest day of the year so far) and the new one will be arriving on Friday.
June 16, 2016
I only got two and a half hours of sleep last night because it was so unbearably hot and humid. I was a puddle.
I truly am grateful that I have a comfortable bed with clean sheets and I can’t wait to go to sleep.
June 17, 2016
I joined my local library’s meet up group “Money Challenge” Meet Up when I had bills coming out of my ears in January, 2014.
I’m truly and internally grateful that the group rescued me in so many ways.
June 18, 2016
Please see my new post for the Aldo Leopold Foundation.
June 19, 2016
Dad, thank you for teaching the love of music, art, literature, and black and white movies from the 1930’s and ’40’s. You were a stern man but you still loved me.
June 20, 2016
Day 6 with no A/C. I’m grateful the heat wave will be breaking tonight with rain to follow. I’m grateful that I have a home to call my own.
June 21, 2016
I’m very, very grateful for my town’s local library which I consider my treasure. By the way, treasures, I believe, should be shared.
June 22, 2016
I thought I would never say this: I’m grateful for the rain and over-cast sky. It makes for a cooler evening; albeit a humid one. I can’t have everything: I don’t have my A/C yet.
June 23, 2016
Thank you, thank you, thank you universe for putting my friends in my path! I wouldn’t be able to make through this life without them!
June 24, 2016
I’m grateful that I’m able to start saving again (what little I can). My main goal now is to have one year’s worth of salary in my emergency fund. It’s a bit of a stretch, but one worth having.
June 25, 2016
I did the most decadent, luxurious activity on this beastly hot day: I slept until 5:00 pm. I’m very grateful that I could catch up on all my sleeping. And yes, the A/C was fixed yesterday–just in time for triple-digit heat index.
June 26, 2016
I’m really grateful for my neighbors and community. I have everything I could possibly need in walking distance: movie theatre, grocery store, library, bank, recreation center, summer concerts, and farmers’ market. I enjoy being around my neighbors; we help one another.
Of course, I would love to live in a less expensive home or even a “tiny house”; but that is another post for another day.
June 27, 2016
I love how the universe works: a co-worker gave each of us an iced coffee on Friday ‘just because’. I donated cat food and paper towels to a local animal shelter’s drive today. I’m grateful that I’m able to give. By the way, coupons do work.
June 28, 2016
I came home from work, ate a quick dinner, packed lunch for the next day and wrote. Writing makes me so very, very happy. I’m grateful for my old lap top. It still does what I need it to do.

With an open and grateful heart, I’m glad that I’ll be marching in my local Fourth of July parade as part of the ‘Green Team’ collecting recycling. I volunteered last year and I had a blast. Someone even gave me food a long the parade route.
